Show Information
Commodity Classic is the combined convention and trade show of the American Soybean Association (ASA), the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA), the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) and the National Sorghum Producers (NSP). The theme of this year’s Classic is “On Board for Profits.”
USB supports Classic by participating as a Gold Sponsor, the highest level of sponsorship. This investment allows soy checkoff-funded research and programs to be featured during a media conference, two learning sessions, one what’s new session, the ASA banquet and the trade-show floor.
The soy checkoff exhibit will be located close to the ASA booth at the main entrance of the trade-show floor at booth 303. The focus this year will be on the Take Action and High Oleic campaigns.
What’s My Role at the Booth?
USB has played a leading role in establishing Take Action, an industry-wide partnership including universities, herbicide providers and commodity organizations to help farmers manage herbicide resistance. At Commodity Classic, USB’s primary message will support the Take Action herbicide resistance education effort. At the booth, we need your help to make sure every soybean farmer realizes that herbicide resistance is a growing threat, and that they must take action now to proactively implement a strategy that manages herbicide use effectively and incorporates a diverse set of weed controls. We’ll also need you to provide attendees with two tools to help manage herbicide-resistant weeds – a Herbicide Classification Chart and a Weed Out Resistance poster.
And, you can direct farmers to www.TakeActionOnWeeds.com, a robust web resource created by USB in partnership with university weed scientists. A set of talking points on herbicide resistance management will be included in your binders that you will collect at the Past Chairmen’s Forum. We encourage you to use your personal weed management experience to encourage farmers to take action. A great way to start the conversation is by simply asking if they’ve experienced any herbicide-resistant weeds in their fields.
USB is on the forefront of pushing high oleic soybeans in the market place and leading industry collaboration throughout the entire value chain to ensure the success of this new product. At Commodity Classic, USB will be promoting high oleic soybeans and talking about their benefits to increase profitability for the entire soy industry. At the booth, we need your help to ensure that every farmer who comes and visits us knows how important high oleic is for their bottom line. A set of talking points on high oleic will be included in your binders that you will collect at the Past Chairmen’s Forum.
